EgyptSat-1 is Egypt's first Earth remote sounding Satellite. This satellite has been jointly built by Egypt's National Authority for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences together with the Yuzhnoye Design Bureau in Ukraine and will be launched onboard a Dnepr rocket in January of 2007.It will be a first in a series of satellites for scientific research and remote sensing applications. Suspected Purposes
Egyptsat 1 is suspected by many Israeli officials to be a spy satellite with sole purpose of taking spying on and taking of Israeli military facilities.
Equipment Egyptsat 1 is considered a micro-satellite weighing only 100 kg. It is carrying two devices onboard. An infrared sensing device and a high resolution multispectral imager together with forward communications payload.
