Eiko Carol is a character first found in the destroyed city of Madain Sari on another continent in the world of Final Fantasy IX. She is the last of a race of summoners and is the only person in the world with a Summoners Horn. She decides to join Zidane and co. after she finds out that Garnet also has the power to summon monsters despite her lack of a Summoners Horn. She has a crush on Zidane. While Eiko and Garnet both share White Magic and Summoner abilities, Eiko is the main white magic user of the two with her summoner powers secondary, indicated by the order of said skills on the battle menu.

It is eventually revealed that Garnet is from the same destroyed village as Eiko. Garnet left on a boat and due to a storm landed at Castle Alexandria on the Mist continent. The King and Queen had recently lost their daughter and Garnet looked almost identical to their lost child. The king ordered her horn cut off, and for her to be raised as their daughter, never knowing of her life before the castle.


After defeating Kuja, one of the scenes in the game shows Eiko referring to Cid and Hilda as her parents, meaning the Regent and his wife adopted Eiko. Kuja in his normal attire. ...


Eiko has a pet female moogle who goes by the name Mog. During an extraction of Eiko's eidolons (the same process Thorn and Zorn used on Garnet/Dagger in Alexandria) Mog goes into a trance to protect Eiko and it transforms into Madeen. After the battle, it gives Eiko the ribbon it wore to learn how to summon it whenever she needs it.
