In 1948 he became kanditate of Philosophy. from University of Helsinki, his main subjeckt was literature. Repo was free literary critic and wrote criticisms to Uusi Suomi and Parnassoon newspapers . From 1958 to 1964 Repo was a reporter to APU-magazine and after this career he became program manager to MTV3.When YLE:s president Einar Sundström retired in 1965, Repo became his succeeder as canditate of Agrarian Party. One of his suporters as YLE:s known president was Urho Kekkonen president of Finland. During the Repo presidency big reforms where made in YLE. Repo gave support to left-wing students and to their critical social programs , this ofers started sow called Repo's Radio era. Many critics wrote that Repo's radio wasn't radio that it was an political institute because the lefts whad to close revalationships with the Soviet Union.


YLE was blamed that it suported lefts victory in the parlament elections in 1966. Repo was't elected to second five year term to YLE but he was amde as head of the radio.
