The polar bear, symbol of the club The club was foundet in 1954 as SC Dynamo Berlin. Till 1988 the club won 15 championships in the GDR. In 1990 it was renamed in EHC Dynamo Berlin and got the polar bear as symbol. In 1992 it was renamed again, this time in "EHC Eisbären Berlin". In the first season in reunited Germany the EHC Dynamo Berlin and the PEV Füchse Weißwasser were delegated to 1st League (1. Bundesliga), but many of the players went to the West-German.
