El Norte, founded by Rodolfo Junco de la Vega, is a major newspaper in the state of Nuevo León, Mexico. During the seventies and eighties El Norte became important due to its great efforts to denounce government corruption, and due to its principles of independence in journalism battling the government monopoly over printing paper.
