Encyclopedia > El Parque del Tren

El Parque del Tren (The Train's Park) is a touristic attraction in Bayamón, Puerto Rico.

One of the important jobs opened under Mayor Ramón Luis Rivera, El Parque del Tren was opened in 1980. It featured a western era train that was the only working train in Puerto Rico. It also featured a DC-3 airplane formerly used by United Airlines.

The park was modeled to resemble a western town, with artificial rivers, wooden houses and bridges around it. The train rides were about five minutes long. The park was located right next to city hall, which Rivera made into another touristic attraction (city hall was, at some time, the only Latin American building to cross over an avenue).

Many entertainers, like Los Chicos and others, have performed at El Parque del Tren.

El Parque del Tren was demolished in 2001 to be remodeled
