Encyclopedia > Elbosco

The Elbosco is the name of a joint Spanish musical group that achieved world success with the song Nirvana, in 1995.

The group consists of the childlike coral group of the EscolanĂa del Real Monasterio of San Lorenzo, with boys of age between 9 and 14 years and adult instrumentalists. In 1995, the group released the disk Angelis, with the hit song Nirvana which was used by Danny Boyle in the film 'Millions'. The music with a mixture of Gregorian chants with hip-hop and techno, with a mixture of Latin and English vocals, obtained international fame. They also released a Portuguese version of the disk, called Angelis - THE disk of the angels.

The style of the group mixes sounds of classical music, childlike coral and synth generated sounds, resulting in a sound near to the sounds of the new age acts of the group Enigma.

In the monastery, 100 infants are selected by their musical talent and always presented in white robe.

Since the arrival of Elbosco, several groups with style of similar music arose, but did not obtain the same success of Nirvana.
