Shadow Women and Equality minister Eleanor Laing this afternoon stated that the equality battle was far from won, and that the traditions of the Conservative Party were essential in upholding the importance of the individual.
Ms Laing noted that new regulations on age discrimination, which have come into force today will take a while to bed down and it was important for employers to approach such regulation in a positive light.
Ms Laing stated clearly that she felt the budget set aside for the CEHR was considerably too high, and that despite its expanded remit over the existing commissions, there should be evidence of an economy of scale, measurable in financial savings.
