School History

Eleanor Roosevelt High School was opened in September, 2003. The first and current principal is Susan Elliott. Miss Elliott had served as Assistant Principal of Baruch College Campus High School, (named after Bernard Baruch). Prior to that, she helped to start Urban Peace Academy, an alternative high school, and worked there as an administrative assistant and math teacher Miss Elliott began her career as a middle school math teacher. The Student Body

Eleanor Roosevelt High School serves grades nine through twelve. There have been roughly five-hundred students enrolled, a small student population for a school that represents the New York Board of Education. The school has proven to be a highly intellectual atmosphere for students and is academically rigorous. Eleanor Roosevelt High School is one of the top ranked public high schools in New York City. The high school had its first graduating class in June, 2006, with the students going on to such colleges as Bard College, Barnard College, Emory University, Georgetown University, Boston University, Hunter College, Penn State, New York University and Smith College.
