The following chart shows the results of the elections for the 24th congressional district of Ohio, which was created for the 1966 election (after the banning of at-large seats by the Voting Rights Act of 1964) eliminated in the redistricting following the 1970 census. Bold type indicates victor. Italic type indicates incumbent.

• Redistricting following the 1970 census eliminated the 24th district. Powell was moved from the 24th district to the eighth district from which he was re-elected in 1972.
