Eliab was the son of Jesse, also the father of King David. He was apparently tall and had fair features, but not the proper heart to be king of Israel (1 Samuel 16:7). "Do not consider his appearance or his height...the Lord looks at the heart."
Eliab did not know that while David was in the position of the lowly shepherd boy, God was training him to be a giant killer.
Eliab reasoned that since he, the oldest and biggest of his brothers, would not even consider fighting with Goliath, how could his "baby brother" have the gall to think he could fight him.
Eliab was focusing on Goliath and thought he was too big for anyone to fight, but David's focus was on his God.
