History
Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow. Elincia is the sole known survivor of the Crimean royal family and the heir to the Crimean throne. Due to potential political complications that could have resulted from her birth becoming public knowledge, she was raised in secret at a villa in the Crimean countryside. For most of her life, until the Daein invasion of Crimea, only the highest ranking members of each Tellius nation and a select few Crimeans were granted knowledge of her existence. Despite her life of seclusion, Elincia spent her youth learning a diverse range of skills such as sewing, sword fighting, and horse riding, some of which prove to be beneficial later in the game. Early on in Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, the majority of the Crimean royal bloodline is wiped out in the invasion led by Daein's King Ashnard. Elincia flees from the Crimean capital with her guards, but is left to fend for herself after her men are ambushed by Daein soldiers. Her formal introduction in the game proceeds after she has fallen unconscious in a forest and is found by Ike and the Greil Mercenaries, who take her back to their base of operations. Ashnard is the main antagonist in Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance (for Nintendo Gamecube), and the king of Daein. ...

Initially, the group is undecided about whether to hand Elincia over to Daein's soldiers, or to help defend her against them. Eventually, Greil's mercenaries decide to shield the Crimean princess despite the immense risk of danger. When she recovers, she asks the mercenaries to escort her to the neighboring nation of Gallia, where she hopes to find refuge and assistance. When she and Ike are unable to find the aid that they seek, they embark on a long journey to Begnion, where they meet with Apostle Sanaki, the most politically powerful figure in all of Tellius. After Ike helps the apostle expose corruption within Begnion's senate, Elincia grants Ike the title of Lord so that he may formally lead the Crimean liberation army, composed of Ike's mercenaries as well as soldiers from several Tellius nations. After traveling with the liberation army through Daein and back into Crimea, Elincia retakes the Crimean throne following the defeat of King Ashnard, receiving a rapturous celebration from her compatriots and allies. As queen, she leads the effort to rebuild the nation from the decimation it has suffered at Ashnard's hands. For the majority of the game, Elincia's role in the ongoing events is limited to consorting with dignitaries and consoling Ike. However, at a point late in the game, she becomes a playable character with the unique character class "Princess Crimea." In battle, she rides a pegasus, is able to cast healing magic, and wields a unique sword named Amiti. She can be considered a more mobile version of the Valkyrie class, which are functionally similar save for the fact that Valkyries are horse-mounted units and thus cannot fly.

Character Elincia is very well respected amongst her comrades, not just because of her regal heritage, but because of her seeming honesty and sincerity. She comes off as very gentle and intelligent, despite her years in secrecy, and her diplomatic attitude towards others stands in stark contrast to Ike, who tends to be blunt in his appraisals of others. At the beginning of the game, she is meek and unsure of the world around her due to her lack of worldly experience, but through the process of recapturing Crimea, she gradually becomes more confident and assertive. Spoilers end here.
