In the first chapter of the Book of Luke in the New Testament, Elisabeth (Hebrew אֱלִישֶׁבַע / אֱלִישָׁבַע "My God is oath", Standard Hebrew Elišévaʿ / Elišávaʿ, Tiberian Hebrew ʾĔlîšéḇaʿ / ʾĔlîšāḇaʿ) is named as the mother of John the Baptist.
