He is a swordsman on a quest to find his father, Elbert, who had been kidnapped by the Dark Druid Nergal. Eliwood battles with a group of assassins called the Black Fang, morphs, and lastly a Fire Dragon to reach his destination. He is equipped with a rapier, and later, the Durandal, which he uses to battle Nergal. He is Roy's father. Eliwood also appears in Fire Emblem: Sword of Seals, but only through a very short period into the game. Eliwood's mother is Eleanora, who is guarded by Isadora, and his son is Roy, who first appeared in Super Smash Bros. Melee, then the sixth Fire Emblem game, which was made before Fire Emblem: Blazing Sword, the aforementioned Fire Emblem: Fuuin no Tsurugi. Eliwood's statistics are average all-around, but his luck is higher than the rest. Often, he tends to be somewhat lopsided, or weak in his statistics, having no real specialties (or weaknesses). Because his statistical growths are often average, he tends to lack in certain areas at some times, while in other areas at another. Nevertheless, he has a great amount of potential, and is a solid unit. Roy may refer to: Places Roy, New Mexico, USA Roy, Utah, USA Roy, Washington, USA People Family name Arundhati Roy, an Indian novelist and peace activist Indra Lal Roy, an Indian flying ace of World War I M. N. Roy, an Indian-born philosopher and 20th century revolutionary in India...

During the game he develops feelings for Ninian. Nills, her brother, reminds her that she is a dragon and can't fall in love with him. Eliwoods sword controls him and kills Ninian when she is in Dragon Form. It is also possible he has feelings for Lyn as well.

Eliwood also has a very large chance of making it into the new Super Smash Bros. Brawl game for the Nintendo Wii.

Oddly enough, he was second for 2003 NP's "Are you hot or not?" category for not hot.
