Baltovich's lawyers, and some others, have suggested that Bain was in fact the first murder victim of notorious killer Paul Bernardo, who (it was later discovered) was the Scarborough rapist, committing violent, serial sexual assaults on young women in the Scarborough area at the time of Bain's disappearance.
