Barbara "Elizabeth" Linington (born March 11, 1921 in Aurora Kane, Illinois; died April 05, 1988 in Arroyo Grande, San Luis Obispo, California) was an American freelance novelist. She was awarded runner-up for best mystery from Mystery Writers of America for her 1962 tome, Knave of Hearts. Regarded as the "Queen of the Procedurals," she was the first woman to write police procedurals — a male-dominated genre of police-story writing.
