The major lakes are BULL LAKE, BUCK LAKE, HORSESHOE LAKE, CRANNBERRY LAKE, THE SALMON RIVER. Many other lakes encompass the vast lands and are metticulously hidden throughout. Some of these are: LITTLE MARL LAKE, BIG MARL LAKE, CROTCH LAKE, SHEFFIELD LAKE.
Although undeveloped, there are places to camp or board available. ELM TREE lodge is an original four bedroom farmhouse nesled on 220 acres and located near BULL LAKE. Dutch elm disease is a fungal disease of elmtrees which is spread by the elm bark beetle.
The name Dutch elm disease refers to the first scientific discovery and study of the disease in the 1920s in the Netherlands; the disease is in no way particular of the Dutch Elm hybrid.
In Toronto, Ontario, as much as 80% of the elmtrees have been lost to Dutch elm disease, and many more have fallen victim to the disease in Ottawa and Montreal and other cities during the 1970s and 1980s.
