Elmer Austin Benson (September 22, 1895March 13, 1985) was an American politician from Minnesota. He was appointed to the United States Senate December 27, 1935 after the death of Thomas D. Schall and served until November 3, 1936. He was elected the 24th Governor of Minnesota in 1936. He served as governor from January 4, 1937 to January 2, 1939. He lost his bid for relection in 1938. He was a member of the Farmer-Labor Party.

Elmer Austin Benson (September 22, 1895–March 13, 1985) was an American politician from Minnesota.
He was appointed to the United States Senate on December 27, 1935 after the death of Thomas D. Schall and served until November 3, 1936.
Before ill health drove him from the public arena, Benson became a force within the short-lived Progressive Party, managing the 1948 presidential campaign of its candidate, Henry Wallace.

The original land acquisition of 280 acres was bounded on the west by Austin Boulevard (6000W), on the north by the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad tracks, on the east by Central Avenue (5600W) and on the south by Augusta Boulevard (800N).
