Elmira is a census-designated place located in Solano County, California. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 205.


Geography

Elmira is located at 38°21'0" North, 121°54'29" West (38.350110, -121.907990)1.


According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 1.4 km˛ (0.5 mi˛). 1.4 km˛ (0.5 mi˛) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.


Demographics

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 205 people, 86 households, and 52 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 146.6/km˛ (378.5/mi˛). There are 92 housing units at an average density of 65.8/km˛ (169.8/mi˛). The racial makeup of the CDP is 87.80% White, 1.46% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 1.46% Pacific Islander, 6.34% from other races, and 2.93% from two or more races. 26.34% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.


There are 86 households out of which 27.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 39.5% are married couples living together, 12.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 39.5% are non-families. 36.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 7.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.38 and the average family size is 3.12.


In the CDP the population is spread out with 24.9% under the age of 18, 7.8% from 18 to 24, 29.3% from 25 to 44, 29.8% from 45 to 64, and 8.3% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 38 years. For every 100 females there are 111.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 116.9 males.


The median income for a household in the CDP is $48,438, and the median income for a family is $100,000. Males have a median income of $41,406 versus $0 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $35,397. 7.0% of the population and 0.0% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 0.0% of those under the age of 18 and 100.0% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.

The City is committed to minimizing traffic disruption as much as possible during construction; however, given the magnitude of reconstruction involved and the volumes of traffic on Elmira Road, delays and congestion are inevitable.
Elmira Road will remain open during construction, but there will be significant congestion at various times and locations as construction proceeds.
Driveways to businesses off of Elmira Road that have secondary access off of Aegean Road will need to be closed for a period of time to allow construction of the new roadway.
