The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland (1999) is the second movie based on the characters of the children's television series Sesame Street (after Follow that Bird). It co-starred Mandy Patinkin and Vanessa Williams.
The Pesties
The Pesties, named M'Lady, Little Ricky, Tanya, Lyle, Howard and Sydney, are the willing minions of Bug and Huxley in the movie. They always do what they're asked but with their own particular sense of style. They sing, dance, do lots of grunt work—but mostly they love to sunbathe. It's hard to tell just how long they've been with Huxley, but as long as the food is good, they'll probably hang around.
The movie's art director Ed Christie has compared them to the Keystone Kops, "always clanging into each other..."
The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland was the second theatrical feature-length film based on the characters of the children's television series Sesame Street (after 1985's Follow That Bird).
Elmo loves his fuzzy, blue blanket, and would never let anything happen to it.
Facing life without his cherished blanket, Elmo musters all of his determination and courage and heads off on an action-packed rescue mission that plunges him into Grouchland, a place full of grouchy creatures, stinky garbage, and the villainous Huxley.
Elmo is a Muppet, one of the loveable 'felt 'n' fuzz' creations from the late Jim Henson's 'Sesame Street', and while this movie doesn't have the sort of budget behind it as one of Kermit and Co's big films, what it does have, is a healthy dose of charm.
Whilst in Grouchland, Elmo loses the blanket to the nasty and greedy Huxley, who flies through the air in his giant flying machine, The Huxocopter, sucking up everything that isn't nailed down-including Elmo's blanket.
Elmo realizes that he was selfish not to have shared his blanket with Zoe, and sets off on an action-packed and fun-filled adventure to retrieve it.
