Club career Born in Ghana, the frontman has exceptional pace and made an immediate impact coming on as sub in the first three games of the 2005/06 season. Hammond, who had been with the Cottagers since the age of 16, will cost Leicester up to £350,000. Initially signed on a five-month loan deal from Fulham, Leicester City secured the services of Elvis Hammond permanently on transfer deadline day in August 2005. Whilst some fans bemoan his apparent tendency to be caught offside during a game; others appreciate his high work-rate and tireless running after lost causes. Hammond is a product of the Fulham Academy. He made his debut for Fulham 19 September 2000 against Chesterfield at the Recreation Ground. Hammond looked to have made his break into the first team towards the end of the 2002-2003 season, under Chris Coleman, only to have an injury put him out for the rest of that season. At the beginning of the 2003/04 season, he spent a month on loan at Norwich City FC. He joined Dutch Eredivisie side RBC Roosendaal on loan in January 2005, before he transferred to Leicester City from Fulham for a fee of £225,000 in September 2005. The Fulham Academy, headed by John Murtough, runs along the lines of many of the English football academies as deemed appropriate by the national governing body, the FA.
