Weiss was known to have been involved in a number of high-profile contract killings for the National Crime Syndicate. It was he who, alongside Charlie "the Bug" Workman and another man identified only as "Piggy", fatally wounded mob boss Dutch Schultz in a Newark diner called The Palace Chophouse on the night of October 23, 1935.
