The EMBRAER 190 initial flight The EMBRAER E-Jets are a series of twin-engine jet airliners, produced in Brazil. Most components are common between the aircraft, differing primarily in fuselage length, wingspan, and maximum take-off weight. The EMBRAER 170 and 175 compete with aircraft such as the Bombardier/Canadair CRJ-700 and CRJ-900, Fairchild-Dornier 728JET, and the Sukhoi Russian Regional Jet, while the 190 and 195 compete with the Fairchild-Dornier 928JET, Boeing 717-200 and 737-600, and the Airbus A318. The 170 and 175 have 95% commonality with each other, as do the 190 and 195. The two pairs of aircraft have 89% commonality across the whole family. The 170 has 120 orders, 85 of which are from US Airways, and the 190 has 110 orders, 100 of which are from jetBlue Airways (plus 100 options.) US Airways declared Chapter 11 bankruptcy in September of 2004, and EMBRAER has suspended the order.
