Emergency Medical Services There are approximately 42 Ambulance and Paramedic services in Westchester County. Some of these services may be All Volunteer (VAC), paid, or a combination of the two. While others may be integrated with a local fire department (FD-VAC, FD-EMS) or an independent ambulance service that works through contracts agreements with individual Cities, Towns, and Villages for either Basic Life Support (BLS Ambulance), Advanced Life Support (Paramedic) or both.

Emergency Services Dispatch 60-Control (E.C.C. Center) 60 Control provides primary dispatch for over 37 Fire Departments and Emergency Medical Dispatch for over 18 EMS Agencies in Westchester County. Currently there are Eighteen Dispatchers, Five Shift Supervisors (Lieutenants), Two Captains, and a Chief who comprise the Communications Division. There are a total of five groups (squads), two of the five groups work on a given day. All shifts are twelve hours long. Each group rotates between days and nights and work three shifts per week. When at full staff, each group is assigned One Lieutenant and Four Dispatchers. The Westchester County Office of Emergency Management (OEM) was established in 1999 as a division within the County's newly created Department of Emergency Services. The Department of Emergency Services incorporates OEM, Fire Training Division, EMS Training Division and 60-Control, the coordinating agency for countywide fire and EMS dispatching. |
