Emeril Live is a program on Food Network hosted by Emeril Lagasse. It features many of the same elements of his other show, The Essence of Emeril, including a Cajun flair. The show is taped in front of a live audience in New York and features music played by Doc Gibbs and the Emeril Live Band.
Emeril Live began production in 1997, and in the same year it won a Cable Ace Award for "Best Informational Show." The show features a wide variety of cuisine from cajun to stir-fry. It has also featured chefs like Mario Batali, who cook alongside Emeril and help assist in making dishes. Celebrities have been invited to the show, including some country stars, and they get to try the food. Emeril sometimes lets the audience try out the food he prepares first-hand. They seldom express discontent with the dishes he presents them with. Emeril is known for his use of catch phrases, such as "Pork fat rules," "Where I buy this it don't come seasoned," "Kick it up a notch," and "Bam!" It has proven to be one of the most popular shows on television, and has definately done the same for the Food Network.
