Encyclopedia > Emperor Wen of Wei China

Cáo Pī (曹丕), the second son of the Chinese politician and poet Cao Cao, was the first emperor and the real founder of the Kingdom of Wei (see Three Kingdoms). After assuming control of the Wei throne he attacked the Shu and Wu kingdoms with little results then focused on politics.

Cao Pi, like his father, was a poet. The first Chinese poem using seven syllables per line (七言詩) was the poem 燕歌行 by Cao Pi.

He was most well-known for the conflict with his brother. See the article for Cao Zhi,.
