The Liao Dynasty (Traditional Chinese: 遼朝, Simplified Chinese: 辽朝, pinyin: Liáo Cháo), 907-1125, also known as the Khitan Empire, was an empire in northern China that ruled over the regions of Manchuria, Mongolia, and parts of northern China proper.
Liao is the Chinese term for Siramuren Valley.
In 946 the Khitan of the Liao Dynasty attacked as far as Kaifeng, where they stole maps archives, water clocks, musical instruments, the Classics and kidnapped craftsmen and scholars.
