The mission of the Employment and Training Administration (ETA), as part of the U.S. Department of Labor, is to contribute to the more efficient and effective functioning of the U.S. labor market by providing high quality job training, employment, labor market information, and income maintenance services primarily through State and local workforce development systems. ETA administers federal government job training and worker dislocation programs, federal grants to states for public employment service programs, and unemployment insurance benefits. The Department's Employment and TrainingAdministration (ETA) is the primary agency responsible for such programs.
Funds are used to increase the employment rate, high school graduation rate, and college enrollment rate in six Native American, six rural, and 24 urban communities.
This program provides federal employment opportunities to students who are enrolled or accepted for enrollment as degree seeking students taking at least a half-time educational program.
