Controversy
Emporis was originally established using data gathered by volunteers around the world when known as Skyscrapers.com. The name change to Emporis occurred under the same ownership and coincided with a restriction of data from the public site. Many technical fields are not publicly viewable now. Data is still supplied by volunteers.
Emporis has a policy of watermarking images that it hosts. This does not include images that it does not own, only images supplied by registered photographers. In 2005 Emporis was on the receiving end of legal demands it remove SkyscraperPage diagrams after it added them without permission of the individual artists but with an understanding between its owners and the owner of SkyscraperPage.
