Other Activities In addition, the school has an award winning marching band and a nationally recognized JROTC program. In addition, Encinal High School possesses an extremely rich Dramatic Arts program. The Encinal Drama department has in past years has performed critically renowned productions of such classics as Les Miserables, Hamlet, and the Sound of Music. In 2006 Encinal High will be performing Cats, becoming one of the very first non- Broadway groups to perform the Andrew Lloyd Webber classic. This show will be directed by Bob Moorhead, Encinal's Drama Department Director.
Miscellaneous - The school's mascot is a Marine A-4 Skyhawk fighter plane, a tribute to the town's military heritage and to the now-decommissioned Naval Air Base on the West end of Alameda island.
