Definiton
An encounter is the meeting of at least two different parties, often unexpected. The word encounter itself has negative connations, so that this meeting may have hostile implications. An encounter may lead to a fight or other comfontation. An encounter may also be a suprising event, to either a postive or negative effect.
Game Encounters
Encounters, apart from the common word use, may also refer to RPG and Pencil and Paper RPG events in which the Playing Character(s) comes into contact with a different set of either non playable characters (NPCs) defined by the game or other players. Encounters usually refer to; a battle, a change of gameplay and/or environment. Encounters in games are often a random chance event, such as random battles. Another example of encounters, would be in turn based RPGS, the change from a normal view to a battle grid.
Brief Encounter (1945) is a British film directed by David Lean starring Celia Johnson and Trevor Howard.
Their final meeting, again in the refreshment room where they saw each other for the first time, is spoiled by the arrival of Dolly Messiter, a distant friend of Laura's, who keeps talking and clinging to them so that there is no way for them to say good-bye to each other properly.
In the film, there is voice-over narration (quite unnecessarily, one might argue), with Laura addressing her husband, or rather Laura imagining addressing her husband, in a dream-like state.
However, you will be in for a surprise if you stop in for dinner at the Encounter, as the cuisine holds its own and then some.
The Encounter's Executive Chef, William Benett, began his culinary career at the young age of 13, spending his after school hours stocking shelves and washing dishes in a neighborhood bakery.
Encounter is open daily from 11 AM to 9 PM, 7 days a week.
