The U.S. Army Engineer School, or Engineer Officer Basic Course (EOBC) is located at Fort Leonard Wood, MO, and is eighteen weeks long. Once an Army Officer has been Commisioned and selected for the Engineer Branch, he or she is sent to Engineer School to learn military construction, combat engineering, and topography. EOBC is comprised of almost all Second Leiutenants.
The first four weeks consist of common military tasks and functions. Once completed, the students learn and are tested on military bridging, horizontal and vertical construction and military demolitions, including mine detection. EOBC concludes with a field training exercise where students learn combat engineering.
Once completed, most EOBC graduates are sent to units where they will be Platoon Leaders.
EngineerOfficers help the Army and the Nation in building structures, developing civil works programs, working with natural resources as well as providing combat support on the battlefield.
