Enos or Enosh, (אֱנוֹשׁ "Mortal man; sick", Standard HebrewEnoš, Tiberian HebrewʾĔnôš) is the first son of Seth in the Jewish and ChristianBible. According to the Book of Genesis, Seth was 105 when Enos was born. Enos was the father of Cainan. Enos is also mentioned in the genealogical lists contained in the first chapter of the Chronicles and (with respect to Jesus) in the Gospel of Luke.
Enosh is the third generation in the line from Adam to Noah.
During the days of Enosh "a start was made of calling on the name of Jehovah," or according to the Jerusalem Targum, "they began to err, and to make themselves idols, and surnamed their idols by the name of the Word of the Lord."
He was born 3701 BCE, and was the son of Enosh and fourth in the line from Adam to Noah.
