After the success of his first English single Bailamos Enrique signed a multi album deal with Interscope and spent the next two months recorded the first English album. Knowing that the Enrique was a Bruce Springsteen fan, Interscope chairman Jimmy Iovine recommended that Enrique covered the Springsteen track Sad Eyes which had recently been released on Springsteen's collection of rare recordings Tracks. Enrique recorded in Los Angeles and Whitney in Hamburg, Germany with both of them singing with each other over the phone. They did eventualy meet when the re-recorded the track for single release.
