Microsoft's EEC provides itscustomers with an opportunity to connect directly with Product Development teams in an interactive hands-on enpterprise scale lab environment. The focus of each engagement varies based on the requirements of each company and their testing goals. Participants may testing or validating a planned upgrade, migration or deployment of a new technology, Participants learn about products directly from those that created or own the code base, in return Microsoft product teams learn about real customer scenarios and how their products are being used. During the participant engagements discussions are conducted that focus on how the products are used in their business and how Microsoft can improve these products to better suit these real world scenarios. Customer Driven Testing

The testing is customer driven and conducted by customers. They utilize their people, their tools and their methodologies. Essentially, customers transplant their testing operation to Microsoft for a short period of time. The EEC customer engagement process allows Microsoft to understand how customers test, evaluate and use our products. The feedback collected helps improve the quality and capabilities of our products prior to release.


During each customer engagement the EEC:

  • Connects product groups with customers
  • Collects, categorizes, and reports customer feedback
  • Conducts and reports customer research
  • Identifies and reports bugs and DCRs

The EEC Facility

The EEC has more than $25 million in equipment from major OEM vendors. Using these resources, the EEC is able to provide highly customized customer environments. These environments can include the following:

  • Servers, storage and networking equipment
  • Network configuration and simulation
  • Physical network reproduction
  • Network performance characteristics - speed, latency, and packet loss
  • Multiple technology scenarios
  • Integration with third-party technologies and products
