Eofor, son of Wonred, was a Geatish warrior in Beowulf. When the Swedes invaded Geatland (Götaland), the Geatish kingHaethcyn was killed by the Swedish king Ongentheow. Hygelac, who became the new king, sent Eofor and his brother Wulf to fight against the hoary-bearded Swedish king. During the fight Wulf was severely wounded, but Eofor slew Ongentheow and carried Ongentheow's arms to Hygelac. Eofor and Wulf were not only richly recompensed, but Eofor was given the greatest possible gift for his service, the daughter of Hygelac.
Seconds later Eofor and the wisent are in a deadly dance, culminating in the wisent's death (thanks in part to Bleys) and Eofor's collapse from goring and trampling wounds.
Eofor, his cat Yrsa tucked away in his backpack, went to the Frowen quarter for a little diversion and learned that the weekly ``großer Markt'' was tomorrow; some of his drinking companions were interested to know if Eofor had seen a small fur caravan from Blackbird -- they were apparently overdue.
Eofor was badly injured by the surprise attack, but thanks to a just-in-time miraculous healing spell cast by Watkyn, managed to remain standing as Bleys and Scheattle joined the fray.
