Encyclopedia > Epic Armageddon

Epic Armageddon (the latest in Epic series of games) is a tabletop war game made by Games Workshop. Epic is set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe however where Warhammer 40,000 involves small battles between forces of a few squads of troops and two or three vehicles, Epic shows huge wars between massive armies of many dozens of tanks and hundreds of soldiers. The scale of Epic is far smaller than in Warhammer 40,000 with a squad of soldiers (3 to 7 figures) in Epic being on a base smaller than one which a single soldier occupies in Warhammer 40,000. gskndsftfniy4zw4lcylizytul h == Headline text ==Media:Example. ... The style of the Games Workshop logo is copied in the titles of many of their games Games Workshop is a British game production and retailing company. ... One interesting feature of Epic: Armageddon is that, unlike previous editions of the game and other games produced by Games Workshop, the development of the game was conducted in an open way with 'trial' rules published on the Epic 'Playtest Vault' and feedback solicited from gamers on the associated playtesters forum. This has continued with the development of further army lists.

Turns are different in Epic: Armageddon from other Games Workshop games. Instead of a player moving and firing all of his forces in one massive turn, players take turns moving one or two units at a time, giving the feeling of a battlefield developing in real time.

The entire rulebook is on the http://www.epic-battles.com website, so it is easily and regularly updated.

The monetary commitment to playing this game is relatively small - at least, as compared to other GW products. A competitive tournament army can be had for about US$200.

Setting of Epic Armageddon is 999.M41, third invasion of Ghazghkull, orkish warboss.

Agis Page of miniature painting and gaming - EPIC 40.000 (308 words)
At first glance you might think to yourself, "Epic 40,000 is just a smaller version of Warhammer 40,000, right?" Well, the answer to that is "No it's not, but there is a connection." The Warhammer 40,000 universe is a wide, rich and diverse place where the only real constant is complete and unending war.
On the other hand, Epic 40,000 tackles the more tactical and sweeping conflicts which take place between entire armies or groups of armies on a much larger scale than Warhammer 40,000.
Combats are won and lost not so much on the individual prowess of great heroes or even the combat skills of elite units, but more on strength of numbers and the tactics a commander uses to gain vital objectives and key battlefield locations.
