The Racecourse is between Epsom, Tadworth, and Langley Vale. In 2005 the racecourse opened a public consultation on a proposed replacement grandstand. It will have a spectator capacity of 10,875, a 625-cover banqueting suite and restaurant, and a 1,400m² betting, conference and exhibition hall. It is hoped that the facility will be built between 2006 and 2009. The estimated cost is £23.5 million and the Derby will continue to be held at Epsom during the work.

Epsom Downs railway station is a railway station located on the boundary of the Reigate and Banstead and Epsom and Ewell boroughs of Surrey with the railway to the north forming a continuation of the boundary.
With high levels of passengers travelling to Epsom for horse races, it became clear that a station near the course was needed.
In 1972 Epsom Downs cut the number of working platforms to just four, and following the destruction by fire of the Epsom Downs signal box in November 1981 almost the entire branch was reduced to single track operation in October 1982.
