Erdemir is the largest steel company in Turkey. The name is a contraction of "Eregli Demir ve Celik Fabrikari" which mean Eregli Iron and Steel Factory. Its main plant is in the city of Karadeniz Eregli on the shore of the Black Sea. Erdemir operates a large port to import and export materials.


Erdemir has also acquired the steel plant at Iskanderun in Hatay province, Turkey
