Eric Alfred Knudsen (born July 29, 1872, in Waiawa, Kauai, Hawaii; died February 12, 1957, in Lihue, Kauai, Hawaii) was a noted writer, folklorist, lawyer and politician who grew up and lived on Kauai. His father was Valdemar Knudsen, a west Kauai sugar plantation pioneer. Alfred and Anita had six children: Erick born 1900; Alfred, Jr., born 1901; Oscar, born 1903; Blanche, born 1905; George, born 1911; and Beatrice, born 1911 (twins).
Alfred's brother Lauritz NEUMANN was born about 1872-1874, most likely in St. Croix, and appears in the 1910 and 1920 US Censuses as Laurence/ Lawrence.
