Éric Dazé (born July 2, 1975 in Montreal, Quebec) is a left winger for the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League. He was drafted in the fourth round of the 1993 NHL Entry Draft, having starred for the Beauport of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. He had early success, and was named to the NHL All-Rookie Team in 1996 after scoring thirty goals as a rookie. He scored at least twenty goals in each season between 1996 and 2003, even when struggling with injuries. He has scored more than 200 goals in the NHL. Despite his successes in his career so far, many fans are disappointed with his efforts, even nicknaming him "Lazy Daisy." In addition, many fans feel that he should use his size and strength more than he does, as he is 6'6" and 234 pounds. Despite these fans' disappointments, Eric has had a successful career in the NHL so far, even being named to the 2002 NHL All-Star Team, and he remains an important player for the Blackhawks. Daze (back injury) had good news, bad news as he was scratched for the second game in a row on Sunday night and is expected to miss Tuesday's game in St. Louis, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
