A few years after the tragic death of Sublime's leadsinger Brad Nowell (heroin overdose) in 1996 which disbanded Sublime, Eric temporarily joined up with 60's style Surf-Rock band Del Noah & the Mt. Ara Ratfinks, with whom he played the stand-up bass. At the same time, Eric and Sublime drummer Bud Gaugh, along with many friends started to experiment with the unique Sublime sound, eventually forming many Sublime-related band's, most of whom signed with the Long Beach record label, Skunk Records. Eric happily plays in many of these follower bands. In 1997, Long Beach Dub Allstars formed, and was just what Eric, Bud, and many friends and relatives yearned for, in order to continue the unique sound that Sublime had originated.
