Erika Hess (born 6 March 1962) is a Swiss former alpine skier. She is one of the best female skier ever, dominating the field in the 1980s with 35 World Cup individual and two overall (1982 and 1984) victories. She also obtained six World Championships gold medals between 1982 and 1987, as well as bronze medal at the 1980 Winter Olympics. Alpine skiing has been contested at every Winter Olympics since the 1936 Winter Games in Garmisch and Partenkirchen, Germany. ... The world's best slalom skier in the early 1980's, Erika Hess was only 20 when she became a true hero in 1982 after winning three gold medals at the FIS World Championships in Schladming, Austria and the Overall World Cup.
Hess was only 14 in 1977 when she first mounted the podium -- 2nd at the Swiss Championships which moved her onto the National Team.
Hess won six World Cup titles in the technical disciplines from 1981 to 1986 and a total of 21 slaloms.
