Brown was born as Erin DeWright in Illinois. From 1997 to 2002, she worked for a production company called Factory 2000. She then signed an exclusive contract with EI Independent Cinema, performing under the stage name, Misty Mundae. This film had won an award for best short film at Brown's college film festival.
