Carroll appeared on radio station 3GL in the mid-1960s where he originally came up with the idea for Ossie Ostrich, before moving to television. Ossie was part of shows such as The Tarax Show, before implementing the Ostrich as part of Hey Hey. 3GL was an AM radio station in Geelong, Australia. ...


The character lasted from 1971 until December 1994, when Carroll retired from Hey Hey due to ill health.
