Originating from the Yamatji tribe in the Maheleny region of Western Australia, he has become a household name and well-known unofficial ambassador of the Aboriginal people throughout Australia. Personal life

Ernie Dingo married Sally Butler, then a sales representative for 2Day FM, in 1989.[3] The couple has a daughter, Wilera, and are also raising a grandson, named Jurra.[3] Dingo has two daughters from former relationships, Jurra's mother, Carllena, and a daughter, Zoe, whom he met for the first time in 2004.[3] Sally Dingo has authored two books about her husband and family, 1997's Ernie Dingo: King of the Kids and Dingo, The Story of our Mob in 2000. Ernie Dingo is an Aboriginal Australian actor who has had an extensive career in film and television.
Dingo's background in traditional and contemporary Aboriginal culture have been important to his work in television because, as he points out, working as an Aboriginal actor frequently involves working also (usually informally) as a consultant, cultural mediator, co-writer and translator.
Dingo's first major screen roles were in film, in Tudawali (1985), Fringe Dwellers (1986) and State of Shock (1989) all of which had white script writers and directors but which dealt sympathetically with problems of racism and disadvantage encountered by Aboriginal people.

Dingo remains from 5,000 to 2,500 years old have been found in other parts of South-east Asia, and the earliest fossil record of Dingos in Australia is 3,500 years old.
Dingos ernie dingo did not arrive in Australia as companions of the original Aborigines around 50,000 years ago, but seem to have been brought by seafaring Austronesian traders at about the same time as the Great Pyramids were being built in ancient Egypt.
A study of dingo mitochondrial DNA published in 2004 places their arrival at around 4000 BC, and suggests that only one small group may be the ancestors of all modern dingos.
