City Division and lifestyle
The city is divided into 3 main sectors, the Urban sector, the Beach sector and the forest sector, however the city is composed mainly by urban elements. The urban sector has mostly mid to upper-mid class people, and the most regular house type are Apartments, usually 3 stories high. Small businesses are common, like the Marijol markets which are located in several loctaions all over the city, being the only large commercial infrastructure the Intermarche. Several bookstores and informatics shops are available, with the occasional barber shop and fashion parlor available. Despite the urbanized theme that characterizes it, several green spaces are spread throughout the city. The Forest sector is hardly inhabited and mostly constituted by pine trees. The beach sector has the worst lifestyle and conditions, being know for drug abuse and crime; in contrast, the beach of Esmoriz City is a common touristic go-to place in Portugal, and in a certain area also harbours the most luxurious houses in the city. Education Esmoriz has a Preparatory School (Portuguese 5th and 6th grades, also teaching 7th, 8th and 9th), known for the bad quality of the infrastructures and the teaching. Students there tend to commit acts of violence and the average age for the 5th grade is 16 years of age. The Secondary School has been ranked better in both terms of infrastructures and of studantile behaviour. The Secondary School was founded in 1 of April 1975. The school functioned for 13 years at the Solar da Rua dos Castanheiros and inaugurated at a new location in 1988, Rua Da Estrada Nova nº 3885. The school has 6 buildings, 4 of which are class dedicated and have about 20 classrooms each, except the first one which is dedicated to administrative functions and also has the school library, re-opened recently. The gimnastics building is large, and is well equipped with PE materials. Sports The city has a gimnasium, owned and maintained by the local volleyboll team, Esmoriz Ginasio Clube, who are majorly sponsored by Aerosoles. They have classes of Volleyball, Taekwondo, Tennis and gymnastics. It provides services of a Health Club, Phisiotherapy, Muscultion and has a restaurant. The local Football club is Sporting Clube de Esmoriz, which plays in the national second league with its senior team and provides several formation levels for young amateur football players.
