Esposende, o único concelho do distrito de Braga banhado pelo mar, possui algumas das mais belas praias da Costa Verde, numa longa extensão de 18 quilómetros de areal integrada na Área de Paisagem Protegida do Litoral de Esposende.
Igualmente rodeada de matas de pinheiros, a vila de Esposende, situada na paisagem idílica da foz do rio Cávado, possui algumas bonitas casas antigas, praças arejadas e igrejas interessantes, como a da Misericórdia (século XVI) e a do Bom Jesus, e as ruínas do Castelo de São João Baptista, dos séculos XVII e XVIII.
