The HiramBithorn Stadium (EstadioHiramBithorn in Spanish) is a baseball stadium in San Juan, Puerto Rico operated by the municipal government of the city of San Juan.
Its name honors the first Puerto Rican to play in the major leagues, HiramBithorn, who first entered MLB with the Chicago Cubs in 1942.
HiramBithorn Stadium hosted parts of the first two rounds of the World Baseball Classic.
Though the name of the ballpark is HiramBithorn Stadium over the main entrance gate, inside, under the scoreboard, the Spanish EstadioHiramBithorn prevails.
Interestingly, HiramBithorn, the first major leaguer to hail from Puerto Rico, (who broke into the big leagues with the Cubs in 1943), is not similarly honored.
