Esther's Follies is a modern day vaudeville theater located on 6th Street in downtown Austin Texas USA. Acts range from magic, juggling, singing/dancing, to "Saturday Night Live" type of skits on current events. The show is fast paced, and most of the acts incorporate a comedic theme, which keeps it lively and very entertaining.
The show lasts approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes with a quick 5 minute intermission, and runs every weekend evening from Thursday to Saturday. This year, 2007, Esther's Follies is marking their 30th anniversary of performances. The cast has evolved quite a bit since it's inception but still maintains the founders, Michael Shelton and Shannon Sedwick, who both continue to make appearances during the show.
One of the most unique aspects of the theater is it's glass backdrop, which reveals an endless stream of 6th Street revelers partying the night away. People-watching at it's finest, as they also become a part of the show, often to hilarious effect.
